Parking penalty notice scam

Have you recently received a message about a “parking penalty notice” claiming it’s from the “City of Oakville”? This is not from the Town of Oakville – this is a phishing scam. 

If you receive this message, do not reply to it, or click open or tap on any links, and delete it immediately. 

If you have fallen victim to this scam, please report it to Halton Police’s non-emergency line at 905-825-4777. 

In Oakville, we use an Administrative Penalty System (APS) for enforcing by-law violations and allowing you to pay and dispute tickets. 

Penalty notices (tickets) are issued for parking and by-law violations. If you receive a parking or by-law ticket you have two options:

  1. Pay within 15 days of the penalty notice being issued
  2. Schedule an initial screening meeting 

This system allows us to manage disputes over parking tickets instead of the provincial courts.
