Notice of amendment of Heritage Conservation District By-law 2025-054

Tuesday, March 18, 2025

Notice of passage of By-law 2025-054 pursuant to s. 41 (3) of the Ontario Heritage Act, RSO. 1980, c.337.

On March 17, 2025, Oakville Town Council, pursuant to section 41 (2) of the Ontario Heritage Act, RSO. 1980, c.337, resolved to pass By-law 2025-054, a by-law to amend By-law 1981-144, a by-law to designate an area of the town as a Heritage Conservation District under Section 41(1) of the Ontario Heritage Act, to include Part IV properties at 8 Navy Street, 110-114 King Street and a portion of 144 Front Street.

As the boundaries of the Old Oakville Heritage Conservation District are only changing to include the previously excluded Part IV designated properties, which is now permitted through section 41 (2) of the Ontario Heritage Act, the original heritage designation By-law 1981-144 is now further amended to adjust the mapping to show those properties now included within the Old Oakville Heritage Conservation District through By-law 2025-054.

In accordance with section 41 (4) of the Ontario Heritage Act, any person who objects to the by-law may appeal to the Ontario Land Tribunal by forwarding to the Tribunal and the Town Clerk (at the Town of Oakville, Clerk’s department, 1225 Trafalgar Road, Oakville, ON L6H 0H3 or at TownClerk@oakville.ca) within 30 days after the date of publication on the town’s website, a notice of appeal setting out the objection to the by-law and the reasons in support of the objection, accompanied by the fee charged by the Tribunal. A copy of the appeal form is available from the Ontario Land Tribunal website.

The last date to appeal this by-law is April 17, 2025.

Further information regarding this designation is available from the Town of Oakville. Any inquiries may be directed to Susan Schappert, Heritage Planner at 905-845-6601, ext. 3870 (TTY 905-338-4200), or by email at susan.schappert@oakville.ca
