The Commissioner of Community Development passed Temporary Use By-law 2024-088 under section 39, of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. P.13, as amended on May 27, 2024.

The purpose and effect of the application is to permit the temporary outdoor storage of trailers and motor vehicles, as well as the placement of shipping containers to be utilized for storage purposes by the general public, for a period of up to three years. No new permanent structures are proposed, and the existing building will remain in place and will not be impacted by the proposed temporary use.

The subject lands are located south of the QEW and east of Trafalgar Road, on the site of the former General Electric Canada Lamp Plant.

At this time there are no other applications, under the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. P.13, as amended, pertaining to the subject lands.

The Commissioner of Community Development has fully considered all written and oral submissions related to this matter and that these comments have been appropriately addressed.

Any appeals to the proposed by-law amendment must be filed with the Town Clerk at 1225 Trafalgar Road, Oakville, ON, L6H 0H3; must set out the reasons for the appeal; and must be accompanied by the fee required by the Ontario Land Tribunal. A copy of the appeal form is available from the Ontario Land Tribunal website.  

Only individuals, corporations and public bodies may appeal a by-law to the Ontario Land Tribunal. A notice of appeal may not be filed by an unincorporated association or group. However, a notice of appeal may be filed in the name of an individual who is a member of the association or the group on its behalf.

No person or public body shall be added as a party to the hearing of the appeal unless, before the by-law was passed, the person or public body made oral submissions at a public meeting or written submissions to the Commissioner of Community Development c/o the Town Clerk (at the Town of Oakville, Clerk’s department, 1225 Trafalgar Road, Oakville, ON L6H 0H3 or at towncerk@oakville.ca) or, in the opinion of the Ontario Land Tribunal, there are reasonable grounds to add the person or public body as a party.
