Effective January 20, 2025, Michael Mizzi will join the Executive Leadership Team as the new commissioner of Community Development with the Town of Oakville. Mr. Mizzi brings more than 30 years of municipal leadership experience to the town. Most recently, he served as director, Community Planning, Etobicoke York District Development Review Division with the City of Toronto. He was selected following a comprehensive search.
Mr. Mizzi will lead the commission in defining and protecting the town’s vision of being a vibrant and livable community for all in the areas of planning, building, economic development, and municipal enforcement. In addition to his extensive municipal experience, Mr. Mizzi holds a Bachelor of Applied Arts, Urban and Regional Planning, a Bachelor of Arts, Urban and Economic Geography and is a graduate of the City of Toronto Executive Development Program.
Mr. Mizzi takes over the commissioner role from Neil Garbe who retired from the Town of Oakville in May.
