Take part! Resident survey and community drop-in events this March

As the town continues to grow and evolve, it’s crucial that its policies and procedures reflect the changing needs and desires of the community. That’s why the town is excited to announce that work is underway to update the Town of Oakville’s Public Notice and Engagement Policy and Public Engagement Procedure

Last updated in 2016, these documents are due for a refresh to ensure the town remains responsive and inclusive in its approach to public engagement. Starting today, the town wants to hear directly from residents about how it can improve its public notice and engagement practices.

Online survey runs March 7 to 22

To gather your input, the town has a public engagement survey. By taking a few minutes to complete this survey, residents can share their preferences for how they would like to be informed and engaged in town projects and studies.

Community drop-in events

Additionally, the town understands that some residents may prefer to provide feedback in person. That's why staff are hosting four drop-in events in the community throughout March.  Staff will be on hand to discuss the policy, answer any questions, and gather input face-to-face on the following dates and locations:

  • Monday, March 18 at Glen Abbey Community Centre, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • Monday, March 18 at Trafalgar Park Community Centre from 5 to 8 p.m.
  • Wednesday, March 20 at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex from 5 to 8 p.m.
  • Thursday, March 21 at Sheridan College, B Wing, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Quotes

“We’re always looking for new, innovative ways to improve how we support and connect with our community. I encourage our residents to complete the survey or attend one of the in-person events to share their thoughts. The feedback we receive will be helpful in identifying the ways to connect with our residents and achieve our vision to be a vibrant and livable community for all.”

–    Mayor Rob Burton

“The town interacts with the community on hundreds of projects, studies, initiatives, services, and programs every year. Whether it’s providing feedback on local projects, participating in open houses, or sharing your thoughts through surveys, resident input is a vital component to the town’s delivery of programs and services, and it is important our policy and procedures reflect of community needs and trends.”
