Oakville Youth Action Committee hosting awards night on May 4 to recognize outstanding youth in the community
The Town of Oakville is excited to announce the launch of the Youth Awards in partnership with the Oakville Youth Action Committee (OYAC), a group of young volunteers working to foster positive experiences for youth in our community.
The awards recognize young individuals between the ages of 11 and 19 in the Oakville community who have demonstrated exceptional talent, passion, and commitment and have made a contribution to Oakville’s vibrancy and livability.
The Youth Awards include four categories that celebrate the achievements of youth in specific areas of excellence
Emerging Leader Award
Recognizes youth who positively influence their peers, demonstrate leadership qualities, and make a positive impact as role models through motivation and mentoring, while showing a true passion for helping others.
Youth Artist Award
Recognizes youth who demonstrate a passion for the arts, whether through music, theatre, or other cultural talents, and who positively represent and dedicate their talents to raising awareness of arts and culture among the youth community.
Youth Involvement Award
Recognizes youth who dedicate their time and efforts to local organizations or events, actively engaging in their community through volunteerism, employment, participation, and demonstrating a passion for helping others.
Youth Sports Award
Recognizes youth who demonstrate a passion for sports and portray a positive image through their participation, volunteerism, or coaching within their chosen sport.
Nominate a youth today!
Nominations are open today and will be accepted until April 2 at 11:59 p.m.
The town encourages parents, teachers, community leaders, and peers to nominate young individuals who have made remarkable contributions in the areas of arts, sports, community involvement, and leadership by completing the online form.
Celebration event on May 4
Two award recipients (one between the ages of 11 and 14 and the other between 15 and 19) will be chosen for each category. Nominees will be announced in April and invited to a celebration even taking place on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre. More details will be shared in April.
