Apply by August 2 for the unique opportunity to showcase your creativity in a public space
The Town of Oakville, in collaboration with the Oakville Youth Action Committee, is excited to announce a unique opportunity for youth aged 13 to 18 to showcase their artistic expression in a public space. This year marks the second year for this program.
Guided by the expertise of Yasaman Mehrsa, a local professional artist and accomplished muralist, the Oakville Youth Mural Project invites up to 12 young artists to connect, create and collaborate on an indoor public art mural for a community room located at River Oaks Community Centre.
Participants will receive hands-on experience in the design and process of creating public art. Selected youth will be invited to attend three workshops this winter to develop the design concept. As a collaborative effort next spring, the group will then create the large-scale mural to be displayed at River Oaks Community Centre. All workshops are free, and no prior art experience is required. Additionally, participants will gain 40 volunteer hours through their involvement in the project.
Apply to the Oakville Youth Mural Project today for this exciting opportunity to make a positive contribution for the community. The final mural will be unveiled during National Youth Week from May 1 to 7, 2025.
