The Town of Oakville is encouraging Oakville voters to participate in the municipal elections on Monday, October 24, 2022 to choose their Town and Regional Council, Regional Chair and School Board representatives.
Eligible voters can vote anywhere in their ward by showing ID with their name and address. Those who received a voter notice are encouraged to bring it along. Find out your ward and voting location options by using the “where do I vote” feature on elections.oakville.ca.
Individuals with accessibility needs can call 905-815-6015 or email elections@oakville.ca if they require curbside voting at any of the locations in their ward. Accessibility devices such as sip and puff, and audio ballots are available at the voting location in Town Hall.
The town is piloting a new drive-thru voting location to gain input for future elections. In addition to an indoor voting location at Oakville Trafalgar Community Centre (OTCC), there will also be a drive-thru voting option at this site on October 24 during voting hours, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Signage will be on site to guide drive-thru voters to the multi-level parking garage.
This initiative is open only to Ward 3 residents. The location was chosen based on its size and the covered parking area, which helps during inclement weather events. The results of the pilot will provide information to the town on the feasibility of drive through locations being used in the next municipal election.
Should there be a longer wait time at OTCC to use the drive-thru voting, residents may choose to vote in the indoor polling location. Town staff will be on site to assess and redirect voters to the indoor voting if the drive-thru option is busy.
Unofficial results will be posted live on elections.oakville.ca after all voting locations have closed at 8 p.m. on October 24. The results will also be shown live in the South Atrium of Town Hall, open to the public.
Official results are expected to be released no later than Thursday, October 27, 2022 after the Town Clerk validates and certifies the details. Official results will be posted on elections.oakville.ca. The new term of Council begins on November 15, 2022.
“Every vote counts in shaping the town’s future and the services that residents count on. With multiple voting locations in each ward and many ways to vote, we ask residents to take a meaningful step for their future by exercising their right to vote.”
Vicki Tytaneck, Town Clerk and Returning Officer for the 2022 Municipal Election
