Oakville candidates who wish to run for office in the 2022 municipal and school board election can begin registering with the town on Monday, May 2, 2022. Nominations will be accepted for the Office of the Mayor, Town and Regional Councillors, and School Board Trustees. Regional Chair nominations must be filed directly with Halton Region.
Municipal and School Board Trustee candidates can follow the “Ready, Set, Go” process on the Elections Oakville website which outlines what they need to know before applying, how to prepare nomination papers, and how to schedule an appointment with the Town Clerk to file their nomination. The term of elected office will be from November 15, 2022 to November 14, 2026.
Third party advertisers can also begin registering with the town starting May 2. A third party advertiser is any individual, corporation or trade union that advertises to support or oppose a candidate.
