Mayor Rob Burton has declared this weekend Canada United Weekend in Oakville, joining municipalities across the country in the nationwide campaign to get Canadians to shop and dine locally. The campaign also raises money through the Canada United Small Business Relief Fund to help small Canadian businesses with their COVID-19 recovery efforts.
“Local businesses and restaurants are the heart of our Town and the economic engine of our local economy and my Economic Task Force has been working to support them throughout the pandemic and the recovery period,” said Mayor Burton. “Through the ‘Welcome Back Oakville’ campaign we’ve been encouraging residents to eat, shop and support local. Promoting the Canada United Weekend is a natural extension of that.”
When Canadians shop or dine local on August 28, 29 or 30, they will get access to offers and promotions, including the chance to enter to win one of 25 $10,000 prizes. Learn more at the Go Canada United website.
