The Litter By-law 2011-045 enforces regulations against littering in the municipal boundaries of the Oakville.
Litter refers to waste or refuse that has been discarded including, but not limited to, items such as food, drink or product containers or wrappings, papers, boxes or cigarettes.
In accordance with this by-law, no person shall:
- Litter on private or municipal property without consent of the property owner/occupant
- Contaminate a receptacle on town property with litter not designated for that receptacle. This includes placing household waste in town receptacles.
- Fail to provide proper waste receptacles, when leasing town facilities
Non-compliance with the by-law may result in fees and charges under the Administrative Penalty By-law 2021-038.
