The Anti-Idling By-law states that no vehicle should idle for more than three consecutive minutes except under certain circumstances as set out in the by-law.
Exceptions include but are not limited to vehicles:
- Engaged in a parade. race or other event authorized by Council
- Assisting in an emergency activity
- Where the idling is required as part of a repair process or to prepare a vehicle for servicing
- When the ambient outside temperature is more than 27 degrees Celsius or less than five degrees Celsius and the idling of the vehicle is necessary to the operation of air conditioning or heating equipment respectively
