Sports Fields

The town operates sports fields and ball diamonds across the town which are available for rent from spring until fall.

Rent a sports field

All sports fields, including artificial turf, are now closed for the season.

A timetable for requests and permit confirmation deadlines is set annually. Current clients in good standing will be contacted and requested to submit their requirements to bookafacility@oakville.ca before each season deadline. Go to the Field Permits and Rentals section for details.

All grass fields are closed between October 1 and late April. This allows the fields to rest, especially during the wettest time of the year when the most damage can occur. During this time, parks staff complete maintenance, repairs, improvements, and renovations on an annual rotating basis. Visit the Facility Rentals page for more information.

Field maintenance and closures

Grass cutting

Grass cutting on all irrigated Class A fields will be maintained at a two inch height. Grass cutting on Class B fields will be maintained at a 2.5 inch height. As town grass-cutting equipment may damage saturated fields, rainfall may delay the standard grass cutting schedules.

Field lining

Field Lining on all Class A fields will be completed weekly. All other field lining is the responsibility of the group.

Grooming (baseball diamonds)

Grooming for ball diamonds will be completed daily for all Class A and major Class B diamonds. All other grooming will completed based on scheduled use.

Seasonal field closures

All grass fields are closed between October 1 and April 30. This allows the fields to rest, especially during the wettest time of the year when the most damage can occur. During this time, parks staff to provide routine maintenance, undertake necessary repairs, improvements, and renovations on an annual rotating basis.

Washrooms

Washrooms will be cleaned and stocked on a daily basis during the regular season.
