Fire Stations and Equipment

Fire hydrants help keep our community safe by providing Fire and Emergency Services personnel with quick access to water.

Never place any material in front of a hydrant including trees, shrubs, plants, fences, berms or other obstructions. 

Parking a vehicle of any kind within three metres of a municipal fire hydrant is prohibited.

Ladder trucks

• Our three ladder trucks (Ladder 232, Ladder 262, and Ladder 242) have ladders that range from 75 to 105 feet in length. 
• They can pump water at rates of 7,000 to 8,000 litre per minute, and each have water tanks that range in capacity from 1,100 to 1,500 litre. 
• Ladder 242 has a 1,500 litre foam tank. 
• Ladder 232 is the newest ladder truck with a 101 foot platform, giving the department two platform trucks in total.

Rescue equipment

• Rescue 254 and Rescue 244 have full sets of heavy hydraulic rescue equipment. 
• Rescue 274 carries an enclosed Centaur which is an off road fire/rescue response unit that carries a 450 litre water tank and 100 litre foam tank.

Pumper/tanker

• Oakville Fire Department operates eight pumpers with water tank capacities that range from 1,200 to 2,500 litres. Each pumper has a 100 litre foam tank. 
• Oakville owns one pumper/tanker that features a 6,000 litre tank, plus a 15,000 litre folding portable water tank and a 7,000 litre per minute waterous pump.
