Environment
Find out what the town is doing to protect Oakville's environment, how we're preparing for the impacts of climate change and what you can do to help.
How we are taking action
The Town of Oakville has committed to reducing its energy use by 20 per cent and carbon emissions by 30 per cent by 2030. We have adopted the longer-term reduction target of net zero emissions for all town corporate activities by 2050.
The Climate Projections Report (pdf) indicates that Oakville will experience wetter, wilder, windier and warmer weather events in the near future. With the renewal of the Community Energy Strategy, we will approach our long-term strategy and action plan through a sustainability lens. This will be the key focus to protect town assets and the community.
