Industry and commercial entertainment dominate the northeastern corner of the ward. Near Upper Middle Road and Winston Churchill Boulevard you'll find a movie theatre, restaurants, and other entertainment and recreation options.
Parkland and green spaces in this ward include: Iroquois Shoreline Woods Park, Bayshire Woods Park, The Parkway as well as developing and undeveloped land north of Dundas Street. In the southwestern corner of the ward, you can explore the trail through Morrison Valley, which runs south to Town Hall.
Historically this ward was known for its agricultural lands, as well as the former settler villages of Postville (at Dundas Street and Trafalgar Road) and Snider (at Ninth Line and Burnhamthorpe Road).
The Town of Oakville was founded on the treaty lands and traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. Ward 6 sits on Treaty 14 land which covers the majority of Oakville and beyond. This land was ceded to the crown in 1806 as part of the Head of the Lake Purchase which included land from Mississauga to Burlington.
