The Town of Oakville invites the community to express their condolences to honour the life of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II who passed away on September 8, 2022.

The public may provide their messages either on the Government of Canada’s online book of condolences or the Royal Family’s official condolences website

In a statement released yesterday, Mayor Rob Burton said: “Town Council and I are very sorry to hear that Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has died. Oakville residents and Canadians appreciate her tireless work during her historic reign.

The Queen’s visit to Oakville in 2002 was well-received by residents and we are proud of her lifetime of service and dedication. Our thoughts are with all those who are deeply affected by Her Majesty’s passing.”

Flags at town facilities are at half-mast and Town Hall will be lit royal blue until sunset on September 19, 2022, the day of the memorial service for Her Majesty the Queen.

On Sunday, September 18 Britain will have one-minute of silence at 8 p.m. UK time (3 p.m. our time), to honour the life and legacy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

On Monday, September 19 at 1 p.m., Ontario residents are invited to share a moment of silence in memory of Her Majesty the Queen.
