Gardens
The Town of Oakville has three community gardens with plots available for rent to residents:
- Shell Park – Lakeshore Road West between Great Lakes Boulevard and Chalmers Street, east of Burloak Drive
- Kingsford Gardens – Sherwood Heights Drive and Kinsgsway Drive, east of Ford Drive
- Lyons Lane – Lyons Lane and the South Service Road, east of Kerr Street
The garden plots are open between May 7 and October 31 for non-commercial use only.
Plot rentals
- $73.50 per plot (tax included)
- An additional $25 fee per plot (tax excluded) is charged to non-Oakville residents
Availability
- Offers of renewal are sent to existing tenants in January
- Existing tenants must confirm their acceptance of the renewal by March 31 in order to guarantee they can continue to rent the same garden plot
- For first-time renters, contact 905-845-6601, ext. 3076 to request a plot in the garden of your choice
- If no plot is available you will be added to a waiting list and contacted when a plot becomes available
Services
Tenants are responsible for maintaining their garden plots throughout the season, including watering, pruning, harvesting, fertilizing and pest/disease control. We offer the following services to tenants:
- On-site water and disposal bins
- Spring bed preparation (weeding, removal of loose debris) for new tenants
- Spring and fall rototilling
